FocusED - a hybrid cell phone stand with an integrated virtual classrooms aims to democratize distance learning and provide children in developing countries with access to cheap and attractive distance learning tools.
Our team testing our product at two schools. We recently exceeded our own expectations and unlocked a new milestone.
Last Fall we planned to have at most 50,000 paying customers by mid-2022. We exceeded our projections by a long shot thanks to the rapid integration of our tool with legacy educational companies’ offerings such as Kundelik - an online educational platform serving over 400,000 students.
We have identified hundreds of localized educational platforms like Kundelik operating as dominant players in their own respective regional markets. The recent massive switch to online learning forced them to open up to partnerships with companies like ours to rapidly deploy a suite of tools with a goal of unlocking monetization opportunities such as on-demand online tutoring.
We are going to deliver over 10,000 units of “Focused” stand in September. We are expanding the manufacturing output to 5,000 units/week.

Problem or Opportunity
Cracking online learning w/ pen & paper. “Focused” was originally built to tackle online learning’s biggest problem - student engagement (i.e. video conferences were not designed for online learning). We built upon their existing habits of working with pen and paper. “Focused” is a hybrid cell phone stand integrated with a virtual classroom. A student can get real-time feedback from the instructor by pinpointing specific segments of a problem set without disrupting the flow of the class.
Lack of engagement and widespread disparity in technological means prevent a streamlined learning experience for all. In other words, not every household can afford an iPad w/ Apple Pencil, especially in developing nations. Our elegant solution addresses all of the above pros.
Solution (product or service)
“Focused” was originally built to tackle online learning’s biggest problem - student engagement (i.e. video conferences were not designed for online learning). Moreover, Focused was the only affordable tool guaranteeing high engagement for millions of disenfranchised students from developing nations, who lacked the means to purchase a tablet with a stylus or a graphical tablet w/ a PC.
Right now our direct competitors are online whiteboard services such as LiveBoard, Jamboard (by Google), Nearpod, and some others which allow users to collaborate via a shared digital whiteboard. But unlike others (except LiveBoard) we provide embedded audio\video conference and thus our users do not need to use external conference services (Zoom, Skype, etc). Our future competitors might be big players in edtech market such as Chegg, Brainly.
Advantages or differentiators
Our product requires only a phone, paper, and a pen. By the integrated paper recognition, a snapshot fr om the phone converts paper into the screen, wh ere a teacher can give immediate feedback. Students will be less distracted and more engaged in the process of education.
Money will be spent on
